FIAS invites to join the 2025 #WhiteCard Campaign this April

Sambists, the sports community, and Champions for Peace are supporting the #WhiteCard campaign. We invite you to join and participate in this global movement!

For years, the International SAMBO Federation has backed the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) and the #WhiteCard campaign, celebrating sport's transformative power. As we commemorate the 12^th anniversary of IDSDP, it's an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and address ongoing challenges in using sport as a tool for peace and development.

In 2024, over 460 million children worldwide - more than one in six - lived in conflict-affected areas where education and safe spaces are often disrupted. Conflict devastates lives, denying children access to schools and playgrounds, essential for their growth and sense of normalcy.

Education is a fundamental right for every child, and in conflict zones, it provides stability and hope. Sport, as a flexible educational tool, is invaluable in fostering self-confidence, promoting mutual understanding, cooperation, and respect, and supporting social cohesion and reconciliation. Despite its recognized importance, less than 2% of global education budgets are allocated to sport.

On April 6, 2025, Peace and Sport calls on the international community to mobilize and raise a #WhiteCard for the 460 million children whose lives are disrupted by conflict. By uniting around the symbolic gesture of the #WhiteCard, we emphasize the urgent need to prioritize sport for peace, because where there is no sport, there is no peace.

- Here's how you can participate:Share a #WhiteCard Flashback: Post your favourite moments from past IDSDP celebrations.

- Contribute to the #WhiteCard Lab: Share peace-related content using the hashtag #WhiteCard.

- Organize a #WhiteCard Photo Shoot: Gather as many participants as possible, hold up a large white flag, and share the photo on social media with @sambo_fias, @peaceandsport, and #WhiteCard.
