Representatives from 20 countries will take part in the Pan American SAMBO Championships in Brazil

The Pan American SAMBO Championships will be held in the Brazilian city of Cuiaba from August 23 to 25. Teams from 20 countries of the continent are expected to take part in the competition. Medals will be awarded in competitions in Sport, Combat and Beach SAMBO.

Representatives from Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, USA, Venezuela and, of course, Brazil will take part in the competition.

The competition will be held in the following weight categories:

Sport SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Sport SAMBO (women): 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Combat SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Combat SAMBO (women): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Beach SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 71 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg

Beach SAMBO (women): 50 kg, 59 kg, 72 kg, +72 kg

Team Beach SAMBO Competition: Men 71 kg and +71 kg, Women 59 kg and +59 kg

For Combat SAMBO wrestlers (women, men), this tournament will be one of the stages of selection for the World Games, which will be held from August 7 to 17, 2025 in Chengdu (People's Republic of China).

"This year, the geography of continental tournaments will expand – the Pan American SAMBO Championships will be held in Brazil for the first time. I am sure that for local sports fans, holding such a large competition will be another incentive for the development of SAMBO in the country. Fans and athletes will be able to see high-level SAMBO with their own eyes and will certainly be inspired to practice this martial art. I have no doubt that the Brazilian SAMBO Confederation will make every effort to ensure that the continental championship is held at the highest level," said Eliseo Romero, President of the Pan American Sambo Union (UPASA).

The online broadcast of the competition will be held on the Sambo.Live video portal, the results will be available online on the FIAS information portal: INFOPORTAL.
