Calendar of FIAS International Competitions for 2023 is published
Sambists will take part in two major multi-sport tournaments, and the World Sambo Championships will be held in Armenia. The corresponding decision was approved by the members of the Executive Committee of the International SAMBO Federation. Full information about all competitions is available on the FIAS official website in the calendar of international competitions for 2023.
According to the calendar, SAMBO tournaments will be held in the program of the World Combat Games 2023, which will be held on October 21-30 in Saudi Arabia. Also, sambists will compete on November 27-29 in the program of the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2023 in Thailand.
The holding of the World Championships was previously planned in Egypt, but the national SAMBO federation of this country withdrew its application due to changed circumstances. As a result, the members of the Executive Committee of the International SAMBO Federation decided to support the candidacy of Armenia. The successful experience of holding the World Cadets, Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships, which was held in Yerevan in October this year, was taken into account. The competitions of the strongest sambists of the planet will be held in the capital of Armenia on November 10-12, 2023.
Two months earlier, the third World Beach SAMBO Championships will take place. Sand competitions will be held in the Dominican Republic from 9 to 10 September.
According to the international calendar, the year will be opened by the Asian and Oceania Beach SAMBO Championships, which is scheduled for February 24-25 in Bahrain.
The next continental tournament will be the European SAMBO Championships and European Cadet, Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships. Competitions will be held from April 19 to 23 in Israel in several age categories at once: cadets, youth, juniors, as well as adults: men, women and Combat SAMBO.
On May 4-5, Pan American sambists will hold a Pan American Cadets, Youth and Junior Championships. The competition will take place in Bolivia. After the fights held at the arena, sambists over 18 years old will take part in the Pan American Junior Beach SAMBO Championships, which will be held in the same country on May 6.
Then the turn to identify the strongest on their continent will go to African sambists. Morocco will host the African SAMBO Championships on May 19-21, 2023.
During the week from June 12 to 18, large-scale competitions of the Asian and Oceania SAMBO Championships in various disciplines will be held. The venue for the tournament will be Kazakhstan.
The Dominican Republic will complete the series of continental championships. It is in this country that the Pan American SAMBO Championships will be organized on September 6-7.
In 2023, it is planned to hold two SAMBO World Cups. They will be held in Kyrgyzstan and Serbia. The Republic of Korea, in turn, will become the host country of the Asian Open Cup, which will be organized in Seoul.
