Singapore Hosted the 2025 World Beach SAMBO Championships

On August 2-3, the beach sports venues of Singapore became the stage for the World Beach SAMBO Championships. The tournament brought together top athletes from 20 countries and served as a clear testament to the growing global popularity of this dynamic discipline.

On the first day of the competition, SAMBO athletes battled for medals in individual events across various men’s and women’s weight categories. The second day featured the mixed team event – a format gaining momentum each year thanks to its fast pace and visual appeal.

Several standout moments captured the attention of fans and experts alike. Spain’s Gorka Gracia claimed gold in the men’s up to 58 kg category, following in the footsteps of his brother Ibai, who won the 71 kg division at the 2024 championships in Morocco. The Gracia brothers continue to make their mark on the history of beach SAMBO.

Another highlight came in the heavyweight division, where Kyrgyz athlete Bekbolot Toktogonov delivered a spectacular chest throw against his opponent from the Netherlands – a display of power and precision that exemplifies the excitement of beach SAMBO.

FIAS President Vasily Shestakov acknowledged the efforts of the hosts:

“The Organizing Committee in Singapore did an excellent job preparing and hosting the championship. The tournament was held at a high level and marked another step forward in the development of Beach SAMBO.”

Holding the championship in Singapore marked a symbolic milestone for SAMBO. For the first time, the premier beach SAMBO tournament took place in Southeast Asia – the very region where, a decade ago at the Asian Beach Games in Thailand, beach SAMBO made its debut as an independent discipline.
