The World Games Chengdu: Exactly one year before the start, the Games mascots have been presented
Today, August 7, exactly one year before the start of The World Games Chengdu 2025 in the People's Republic of China, the organizing committee of the competition began the official countdown to the start of this multi-sport event. In honor of this date, the Chengdu 2025 organizing committee solemnly presented the official mascots of the Games – the panda SHU BAO and the monkey JIN ZAI, as well as the event slogan: "Boundless Sports, Countless Wonders."
According to the organizing committee of the Games, more than 4,000 athletes from more than 100 countries will take part in the event, which covers 35 sports. SAMBO will be presented in Chengdu as the only new sport compared to the 2022 Games. The corresponding decision was made at the General Assembly of the International World Games Association (IWGA).
The Games mascots embody the spirit of Sichuan province and the vibrant essence of Chengdu. SHU BAO, a panda, symbolises the region's rich natural heritage which is often represented by the iconic giant panda, while JIN ZAI, a golden snub-nosed monkey, represents the province's unique biodiversity. According to the Chengdu 2025 Organizing Committee, “their charming and cute designs are set to captivate audiences of all ages, adding a touch of warmth and excitement to the Games.”
The slogan for The World Games 2025 encapsulates the vast array of sports and the myriad experiences Chengdu offers. It reflects the event’s commitment to showcasing outstanding sporting performances and unique life stories, promising an unparalleled experience for both spectators and digital audiences.
The World Games program includes Combat SAMBO competitions. Medals will be awarded in 5 weight categories for men, 5 for women, and one set in the mixed team tournament.
